PROENZA SCHOULER FALL 2011/2012
Can we just talk about what an amazing collection Jack and Lazaro have done here. I’m always excited for NYFW to see what these amazing designers have come up with next. I fell in love with the idea and inspiration of this collection. The collection included pieces where they used textiles and I love how they had pixelated pieces that were magnified. The geometric fabrics were definitely a turn on and paired with suede skirts and amazing cuts, especially on some of the dresses that grasped on the women’s figure emphasizing such a formal and sophisticated look. This complex collection was another success for Jack and Lazaro.

TREND ALERT FALL 2011 - MENSWEAR INFLUENCES
For many seasons now we have seen a great rise in designers looking to menswear for their womenswear collections. From tailored trousers, boxy blazers and oversized knits. However, they are still able to create a line between menswear and androgynous.
The use of nudes and blushy tones. Low cut blazers with nothing underneath manages to keep the look very feminine. Mixing soft textures such as fur and cashmere. manipulating fabrics to create drapes and pleats. And also the experimentation of colour - this one in particular is key for keeping you girls….still looking like girls.Saying that, i am a HUGE fan of monochrome, so some of the garments at Balmain and Stella McCartney were very stripped back and kept basic, with black and white being present throughout and still some very well fitted pieces.

Here is a sensational video of the making of the Lanvin Campaign, including Top models such as Karen Elson and Raquel Zimmerman who were featured for the Fall/Winter 2011-2012 collection of Lanvin. Lanvin fall 2012 was once again another great collection for Alber Elbaz this season. The fabrics he used wasn’t an easy choice but the outcome was beautiful. His use of texture, drapes, and lets not forget lace which was a major trend this season and of course the beautiful metallic jewelry made it all so good.. Alber continues to amaze us as he continues to grow. Alber truly knows what men and women want and that is what he delivers.
The house of Balmain is pleased to announce the appointment of Olivier Rousteing as its new Designer. Mr. Rousteing will supervise the design and development of the brand’s men’s and women’s ready-to-wear collections.
This is great news to have such a young designer be appointed and utilize his skills and show us what he’s made of. I hope the future of Balmain is in great hands with Mr. Rousteing.

Still quite minimalistic, but this time with another depth, beautiful prints and chunky platforms
This Yves Saint Laurent ad seems to be the talk of the net at the moment! So I did some searching and found the commercial on Youtube. This is the Belle d’Opium advert, starring Melanie Thierry, that has been banned from the UK. Apparently the Advertising Standards Authority believes that the advert displays actions that “simulate drug use.” Could it have been the name that tipped them off ?

I’m sorry but I really don’t think this ‘simulates drug use’. Honestly why is everything being taken so seriously!
My thoughts exactly.
Trussardi 1991, hmm just some few opinions. I really liked this collection. I loved the elegant yet casual masculine look to it. I love the refinement and leather look. The boots, pants, jackets. The ending was amazing too with French model Clement Chabernaud closing the show with the “Trussardi” iconic dog. This luxury brand is overall luxurious for any man.
